The Hennepin County Fair Board met on April 28, 2020 virtually and after considerable conversation and with great regret, the decision was made to cancel the 2020 Hennepin County Fair.
While unfortunate, we believe this decision is the responsible path forward. The health and safety of our community, sponsors, vendors, creative activities exhibitors, and all who participate in the Hennepin County Fair is our top priority.
The HCF Fair Board is committed to working with the Hennepin County 4H program as they determine what direction to take regarding 4H projects and possible achievement events
It is impossible to predict the scale and timing of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Even if stay-at-home orders and social distancing guidelines are lifted by mid-June, it seems likely that restrictions on large public gatherings will remain in place.
Beyond those uncertainties, our decision took into consideration the relationships we have with our valued sponsors. Over the years, the Hennepin County Fair has relied on their partnership and financial support to help defray event expenses, which in turn has allowed us to add entertainment activities. Given many businesses are closed or struggling to stay open right now, we could not in good conscience ask you for a donation this year.
Stay Safe, Stay Healthy and we will see you in 2021!
